Queens Home to Fundraising Efforts
Queens has been hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and subsequent storms and as a community we are doing our best to draw together. If you live in Queens and want a way to help others in the Rockaways and Long Beach towns, you can join with Austin’s Steak and Ale, located at 82-70 Austin Street in Kew Gardens on Friday, November 16th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Half of the funds raised will be donated to storm victims. The open bar and complimentary buffet costs $45 per person and includes live entertainment so may be the perfect choice for Friday night plans near your Queens home.
If you would rather be part of the hands-on effort to help, consider joining Operation Shove it Sandy where volunteers gather grass-roots style to help Staten Island victims. On Saturday, November 17th, this group is meeting at the Burger King, located at 1565 Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island at 10:30 a.m. Bring along any cleaning supplies you may have or visit the Shove it Sandy Facebook page by clicking here to find other ways that you can donate or assist. As a group, volunteers will be canvasing neighborhoods door-to-door to assess needs and try to meet them.
